Boudoir Photography | Hagerstown, MD Photographer

There are so many reasons to celebrate.  Weddings. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Training for and running your first 5K.  Losing that last 5 pounds.  So what better way to celebrate YOU than with a session that will make you feel fabulous and beautiful?

Boudoir is a french word meaning a woman's bedroom, dressing room, or private sitting room (thank you Merriam-Webster!).  It's a celebration of a woman's body, an intimate expression, and all around morale booster :)  I'm so excited to be offering Boudoir sessions in my new studio in Hagerstown, MD.  Because of the gorgeous lighting and private setting, it is the perfect location to document who you are TODAY for that special person in your life or just for you.

All of our sessions include a beautiful flush-mount, linen album.  This is the perfect keepsake for your loved one and makes an amazing wedding day gift for your groom! Contact us to learn more about boudoir sessions and take a little time out of your busy schedule to celebrate YOU.

Claire + Meghan | Hagerstown, MD Photographer

This session marked the beginning of a new chapter for Jennifer Rotz Photography.  The business was built on me being an on-location photographer, which I loved and enjoyed for quite a few years.  It's no secret I shoot with all natural light and I've grown to love this aspect of my work.  But deep down I knew when I shot a session inside a client's home that beautiful opportunities were being missed due to a lack of gorgeous light.  I always made the best out of (sometimes) just a single window, but, as I grew as an artist and photographer, I craved more from my sessions.  So I knew in my heart that I had to create a space with that perfect light for indoor sessions.

I also knew that the space had to represent me.  I'm not your typical studio photographer who enjoys shooting with backdrops or elaborate scenes.  I prefer natural, organic, and timeless.  If I was going to turn my business in a new direction, it still had to be built on my original thoughts and dreams.  The studio had to have great details: beautiful flooring, character, and, of course, amazing natural light.  So after an in-depth search, I found the absolute perfect space.  It may not have looked very pretty when we first saw it, but I have the ability to look beyond imperfections and see what it could be.

After a few months of decisions and hard work, I am so excited to finally be in my new studio shooting sessions in gorgeous natural light.  And I love that I am still able to get natural, lifestyle shots.  Just because I'm shooting in a studio doesn't mean I can't document all the things that make you YOU or your children who they are.

So in order to break the studio in a little, I photographed my beautiful nieces, Claire and Meghan.  This was not Claire's first session with me.  When Claire was getting ready to turn one (Dec. 2009), I asked her Mom if I could try shooting a session for her.  It was my first taste of photographing a human being and not inanimate objects - needless to say I was hooked.  That was truly the beginning of my career, so it was befitting that Claire make another appearance for the growth of my business - this time, however, she is joined by her beautiful sister, Meghan.   I am beyond pleased with shooting in my new space.  It's exactly what I envisioned and I am so excited to see Jennifer Rotz Photography grow.

Meghan just turned 2.  She did amazingly well..she also let me know when she was good :)
Claire is one of the most photogenic children I've ever photographed.  She is just beautiful.

The studio is located at Mulberry Lofts in Hagerstown, MD.  The loft-style space is perfect for children, family, newborn, maternity, and boudoir sessions.  I am hosting a weekend of mini-sessions April 6th/7th and there are still a few spots left.  Read this post for more information.  Also, for more information on our building - check out the website: www.22mulberry.com

Sarah + Cory | Lancaster, PA Engagement Photographer

One thing I love about all of my couples is that they always have me doing something new for their engagement photos.  Sarah and Cory definitely did not disappoint!  Sarah is getting ready to graduate from veterinary school and loves animals.  So to incorporate this with their engagement photos, she asked her neighbor to 'borrow' his baby cow for a few shots.  I'm not sure if Cory is as enamored with cows as Sarah is, but he put up with being licked by the cow all in the name of love :)  Another first for me was photographing at a fire pit.  Sarah's parents have a beautiful home and in the backyard is a fire pit that they enjoy hanging out at.  They threw on a few of their favorite college sweatshirts and chilled by the fire on a very chilly, windy March day.

It was wonderful getting to know Sarah and Cory better!  I think sessions like this really give me a glimpse into a couple's life and help me to see who they truly are.  I'm even more excited to shoot their July wedding at Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, PA after seeing how sweet the two of them are together.  Sarah and Cory are a super caring couple and I can tell they are an absolute perfect match - just look at how they look at each other :)

Sarah is absolutely beautiful.
This is so cute.  Even the slobber :)
